Prepare your videos

Learn how to sort and number your videos.

1. Sort your tapes

IMG_5264.jpeg

Organize your tapes in chronological order according to the dates on the labels (if available), or choose another way to sort them according to your preferences. For tapes that don’t have a label, you can put them towards the end. The order you choose will affect the how your tapes are listed on your flash drive, or placed on shared DVDs, depending on your order preferences.

2. Number your tapes

Once your tapes are sorted, number each tape by either writing a number on the tape itself, or using a small sticky note. For example, if the first tape is John’s Birthday 1990, write #1 on that tape.

3. type up labels

After you number all of your tapes, type up the labels for all of your tapes, then email it to us. Your tape labels are used on your flash drive (or DVDs) to help identify your video files and match them to your original tapes.

For example:

  1. Reggie Turnbo Dance Recital - June 11, 1988

  2. Woody's Backstreet B-Day 2000

  3. SMSD Lights, Camera, Action! June 2, 2002

When you’re ready to email your tape labels to us, send them to labels@saveyourtapes.com.
